Singer, actor and 80's heartthrob Rick Springfield will bring his famous brand of rock 'n' roll to The Hideaway Showroom at the Silverton located three miles south of the Strip off I-15 on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31 at 11 p.m. Tickets are $54.99, call 1-866-946-4373 or 702- 914-8557.

Born Richard Lewis Springthorpe in Sydney, Australia, Ricky as he was then known, received a guitar for his 13th birthday and taught himself to play. He went on to join Australia's most popular teen bands, Zoot, and spread his wings as a guitar player and songwriter. His revamped version of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" sustained a 21-week run on the charts.

In 1971, his first single, "Speak to the Sky," made the charts before he ventured to America, where he guest starred in a number of television series including "The Rockford Files," "Wonder Woman," "The Six Million Dollar Man," and the motion picture "Battlestar Galactica." Within days of starting his new role of Dr. Noah Drake on the number one rated daytime drama, "General Hospital" in 1980, Springfield's new label, RCA, released "Jessie's Girl" from his album "Working Class Dog," which spent more weeks on the charts than any other album in 1981.

More recently, in 2001 and 2002, Springfield starred in "EFX Alive" at the MGM Grand in 2001-2002. Since then, he completed his new album "shock/denial/anger/acceptance," which is set for release in February along with plans for a new tour.

Had the privileged opportunity to see "Legends On Ice" at the intimate Caesars Amphitheater, an outdoor entertainment venue that seats 1,750, but can be expanded to fit 4,500. Every Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 16, this ice show featuring Olympic and World Champion skating stars performing solo numbers and big production ensemble numbers like Curier & Ives Pageantry and Skating Toys done in an "Ice-Capades"-style is dazzling audiences. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $50 for box seats plus tax and fees, call 702-866-1600.

There will also be special Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve shows. Tickets for New Year's Eve are $50 and $100.

Viktor Petrenko, Elvis Stojko and Paul Wylie will be alternating throughout the rest of the show's run. A few of the constant lineup include Dan Hollander, US Bronze Medalist & International Ice Comedian, Internationally acclaimed Adagio Pair Team - Matt Evers & Ellicia Sheperd, and American Open Show Act Champion Irina Grigorian, who steals the show by effortlessly handling a multitude of hula hoops while skating. This Ukrainian beauty now makes her home in Las Vegas.

The amphitheater, which is currently featuring public skating daily, is nestled in Caesars new Roman Plaza that replaced the long people mover that conveyed patrons into Caesars Palace from the corner of the Strip and Flamingo Ave. for decades. The entertainment and retail plaza is a $40 million five-acre project that includes the first new porte cochére at Caesars since 1979. The Plaza also features Viale, a 230-seat Italian indoor-outdoor restaurant; Spanish Steps bar, 250 seats under a permanent umbrella structure; a 200-seat weddings and events venue; and a number of vendor carts. Over the holidays, you can enjoy the spectacular giant Christmas tree with changing light patterns that Caesars Palace has put up in this area.

The CD will be available for $5 plus postage through www.gordiebrown.com. Brown is currently working on his self-titled debut album of all original songs set for release in mid-2005.

Tickets for Browns show with his live band are $60.50, call 702-386-8100.
