Circo just closed and Italian restaurant Lago will take over the space and debut at Bellagio in March 2015. It will be the first Italian restaurant from the James Beard Award-winning, Michelin-decorated Chef Julian Serrano. The dining room will feature floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows with views of the resort's iconic fountains. An open-air garden-inspired patio will be adjacent with waterfront seating centered on Lake Bellagio. The new eatery will have a small plate menu and a sophisticated mixology program.

Designed by Munge Leung, the restaurant's decor will be influenced by a cultural 20th century movement Italian Futurismo. Lago's bold exterior façade will be wrapped in a colorful mosaic measuring 15 feet tall and spanning 100 feet wide, comprised of Italian glass portraying an aerial map of Milan. The abstract map will include colored backlit glass panels with a color gradient and bright metal accents symbolizing Milan's roadways.

An intimate lounge will have a glass-and-chrome mixology counter. Along the top of the bar, Venini-inspired hand-blown glass vases will hold large up-lit flower displays.

WAHLBURGERS RESTAURANT COMING TO LAS VEGAS

Wahlburgers, the popular fast casual burger restaurant founded by brothers Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg and the focus of A&E Network's Emmy-nominated reality show of the same name, announced a three restaurant franchise agreement with Vegas American Hospitality Inc., successful operators nationwide and in Las Vegas. Wahlburgers will debut in Las Vegas with the first restaurant in early 2015 and two more locations within the next five years.

DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN OPENS WITH FOUR-DAY CELEBRATION

The time has arrived for the new shopping destination Downtown Summerlin with 125 stores to open with a four-day festival Oct. 9-12 featuring food, fashion, events and live entertainment. Stores will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9 and that night at 8 p.m. there will be an opening light show with the street party going to 11 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 11 there will be fashion shows at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

ANDIRON STEAK & SEA WILL OPEN AT DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN

Chef Kim Canteenwalla and Elizabeth Blau, the husband and wife powerhouse team behind Honey Salt and Made L.V., have announced their fine dining concept Andiron Steak & Sea will pay homage to all things grilled, roasted, shucked and seared and open next spring at Downtown Summerlin. The restaurant will abandon the “traditional steakhouse” concept in both menu and design. A wood-fired grill will take center stage while the design will be a bright dining room with light woods and floral patterns giving Andiron a decidedly feminine twist.

FIRST RISE LANTERN FESTIVAL WILL LIGHT UP LAS VEGAS SKY OCT. 18

The first RiSE Lantern Festival in Las Vegas will take place Saturday, Oct. 18 at sunset in the Mojave Desert and light up the sky with up to 20,000 personalized floating sky lanterns. Tickets range from $59 to $114 based on seating selection, plus a $10 to $20 shuttle fee depending on pickup location either the Rio or Gold Strike. Each ticket includes a yoga mat that participants can keep and two sky lanterns and music from Joshua James. A ground torch will also be available to light each biodegradable lantern, and RiSE provides participants with markers to inscribe personalized messages on their lanterns. REDEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION WILL TRANSFORM FASHION SHOW MALL

The Fashion Show shopping destination on the Las Vegas Strip is planning an extensive redevelopment and expansion of the mall's exterior plaza along Las Vegas Boulevard. The project will create a new “front entrance” to the center. The current open plaza design will be transformed into a walking pathway, framed by dining terraces, small free-standing shops and seating areas.

The redevelopment will include a 22,000-square-foot addition, adding five additional restaurant spaces: three full service restaurants with outdoor dining terraces facing Las Vegas Boulevard and two bistro-sized venues with outdoor patios. Six free-standing retail “Cabanas” will be added, along with a new lush landscape redesign that will include shade trees and an exterior passenger elevator at the main parking level. Located above these new additions will be an iconic “Cloud Bar,” complete with an oval roof floating above curving glass walls.

Two-time Broadway World Award Winner Eric Jordan Young has returned to the Las Vegas Strip with a production featuring stunning choreography and a live band at the Sin City Theatre at Planet Hollwood. “Shakin'” plays Saturday-Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Young is no stranger to Las Vegas. In the spring of 2014, he completed a long-time run starring nightly in more than 2,300 performances of “Vegas! The Show” at the Saxe Theatre. Tickets are $44.95 and $54.95.

EL CORTEZ LAUNCHES NEW POP-UP OUTDOOR PATIO-THE WINEYARD

The El Cortez will introduce The Wineyard, a new pop-up outdoor patio, to Downtown Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 10. It will be located directly across from the main property on Jackie Gaughan Parkway with a laidback atmosphere created with wooden picnic tables, overhead string lights and cedar wine racks plus music, drinks and food. The weekly event will take place each Friday in October from 5 p.m. to midnight. Additional nights may be added.

ROCK IN RIO LAS VEGAS ANNOUNCES INITIAL ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP

Rock in Rio, the famous music festival, has announced its initial star lineup: Metallica, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, No Doubt, Deftones and John Legend. They will be part of the first stateside edition taking place May 8-9 and May 15-16 in Las Vegas. The announcement was unveiled as Rio de Janeiro and Las Vegas met in Times Square, the crossroads of the world, with an exciting surprise performance from past Rock in Rio artists John Mayer and Sepultura with Les Tambours Du Bronx to celebrate the festival's 30th anniversary and first U.S. edition in 2015.

Nathan Adelson Hospice will hold its 15th Annual Wine & Food Tasting Extravaganza on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to benefit the hospice's Pediatric Program and Families in Need Program. THE VENETIAN® WILL HOST ULTIMO - A WEEKEND OF EXCELLENCE

The Venetian® will host culinary event Ultimo - A Weekend of Excellence, Dec. 5-7, featuring lavish feasts and extraordinary experiences from an A-team of luxury brands.

This special winter weekend of luxury adventure will include the return of the Venetian's Grand Banquet, a landmark collaboration between several of the world's best culinary celebrities, including Chefs Daniel Boulud, Emeril Lagasse, and Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro.

Introduced in 2013, the Grand Banquet spans The Venetian's Grand Colonnade with a spectacular single table seating nearly 200 people. The event presented by “Robb Report” magazine and Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

PHILHARMONIC AND ‘LOVE’ CAST PERFORM AT LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL FESTIVAL

The Beatles “LOVE” by Cirque du Soleil will partner with members of The Las Vegas Philharmonic for a one-of-a-kind performance at the Life is Beautiful Festival on Sunday Oct. 26. The Philharmonic will perform a 40-minute tribute to The Beatles with the set including a performance of more than 50 dancers and aerialists from the resident “LOVE” production at The Mirage.

MAC KING WILL PERFORM AT VEGAS VALLEY BOOK FESTIVAL

Comedy-magician Mac King, now in his 15th year of headlining afternoons at Harrah's, will perform at the 13th annual Vegas Valley Book Festival on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Historic Fifth St. School downtown to celebrate reading and literacy from 1:45-2:15 p.m. King will do an autograph signing, perform in the Storytelling Tent from 12:05-12:35 p.m., and conclude with his “Why Reading is Magical” essay contest featuring three winning fifth-grade students reading their essays.

JDRF WALK TO CURE DIABETES EXPECTS 4,000 PARTICIPANTS LOCALLY

Nearly 4,000 walkers touched in some way by type 1 diabetes (T1D) are expected at the JDRF Nevada Chapter's annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, on Saturday, Oct. 25 at UNLV. ‘WINTER DANCE PARTY’ TAKING PLACE AT SOUTH POINT

John Mueller's “Winter Dance Party” ®, the official live and authentic re-creation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper's final tour and the only show endorsed by the Holly, Valens and Richardson estates, will take place at South Point Oct. 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. Each live concert includes more than two hours of hit songs of the 50s era. Mueller, the critically acclaimed former star of the U.S. touring version of the London/Broadway hit musical “Buddy…the Buddy Holly Story,” performs as Holly and Linwood Sasser fills his legendary father's footsteps as the Big Bopper. After five years, 28 community dinners, more than 5,500 guests and more than $110,000 in donations to approximately 40 Southern Nevada charities and organizations, Project Dinner Table will host its final dinner on Saturday, Oct. 11. The centerpiece of every dinner has been one long dinner table, draped with white tablecloths seating up to 175 guests. Chefs create a one-night-only multi-course menu inspired by local farmers and purveyors served family-style. For the final dinner, guests will journey to the Marjorie Barrick Museum on UNLV's campus. CULINARY DROPOUT AT HARD ROCK HOLDS CRAFT BEER PAIRING DINNER

Foodies and beer connoisseurs can unite at Culinary Dropout inside the Hard Rock Hotel for a limited-seating, five-course craft beer pairing dinner on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The edgy gastro pub is teaming up with the brew masters at Las Vegas' Joseph James Brewery for the special one-night engagement. Cirque du Soleil and the city of Las Vegas recently celebrated the entertainment company's contributions to the Las Vegas community with a special street sign unveiling outside Las Vegas City Hall. The Quebec-based organization first arrived in Las Vegas in 1993 and with their eight resident productions, Cirque du Soleil has performed more than 36,000 shows.

GOODWILL BREAKS GROUND ON THREE NEW STORES

This past week, Goodwill of Southern Nevada made history by breaking ground on three new locations for Goodwill Retail Stores and Drive-Thru Donation Centers in one week. Two of the 16,000-square-foot buildings will be brand new locations and the third will be a relocated store. The expansions will create more than 100 new, full-time jobs when the stores open in Spring 2015.
