The Off-Broadway hit "Pieces (of Ass)" will make its Las Vegas debut for a special two-night engagement at The Joint inside the Hard Rock on Aug. 14 and 15. The groundbreaking and innovative production made its debut in July 2003 in New York, and in November opened in Los Angeles with rave reviews.

"Pieces (of Ass)" features a series of original monologues delivered by a cast of beautiful women each dealing with themes uniquely common to the physically blessed female; from perks and privileges, to the problems and pressures. These pieces aim to go beneath the facade, behind the velvet rope, and beyond the mirror to examine the concept of "hot chick angst."

The production's format allows for nightly celebrity "CenterPIECES." and offers an insight into the lives of 12 diverse, beautiful, entertaining and interesting women. "Pieces" offers a complete evening with a live female DJ, short films, and outrageous fashions. Tickets are $75 for VIP Gold Circle seating and $45 for Reserved seating plus applicable fees, call 702-693-5066.

The newest restaurant on the MGM Grand's roster is Diego, which combines traditional Mexican cuisine with a sophisticated modern dining experience. The main dining room seats 200, the lounge 60 and two private rooms accommodate 14-15 or combined 30 guests. Diego is open for daily for lunch and dinner.

Latin-born Vicente Wolf, the 2003 James Beard Winner for Restaurant Design, has created a space that embraces the vivid colors of Mexico's cultural landscape. His vivid red palette is used in an architectural way, defining spaces rather than decorating them. There are no wall adornments.

Diego has become the desert home of Tequila Master Julio Bermejo, the only American knighted as such by the Mexican government. Bermejo, who oversees the extensive collection, has chosen only 100% Blue Agave tequilas and mescals.

Singer, dancer, actress Debbie Reynolds is celebrating her fifty-fifth year in show business. She will be an inductee into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Tropicana.

Reynolds began her Las Vegas career in the mid-1960's with her first nightclub act debuting at the Riviera Hotel. Throughout the 60's and 70's, she appeared at several Nevada properties including The Desert Inn and Harrah's Lake Tahoe. In 1985, Reynolds, along with good friend comedian Rip Taylor, headed an international cast in the Las Vegas Hilton's "Bal du Moulin Rouge."

From 1993-1997, Reynolds owned her own hotel / casino called the Debbie Reynolds' Hollywood Hotel, and performed in its lounge eight times a week. It was there she began her dream of opening the Hollywood Museum, which housed the largest collection of Hollywood movie memorabilia in the world.

Today Reynolds appears regularly at the Suncoast and The Orleans resorts.

The Casino Legends Hall of Fame museum houses the largest and most unique collection of Nevada gaming and entertainment memorabilia. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. General admission is $6.95 for adults and $5.95 for seniors.

New restaurants in the offing include the Southwestern sushi chain RA Sushi at the Fashion Show Mall opening in October and Café Ba Ba Reeba, the latest Lettuce Entertain You concept, opening on Aug. 30. It will feature an outdoor terrace and what is claimed as 'the largest Tappas menu in the country'.

The Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay's introduction to the Las Vegas market, plans to open at Caesars Palace on Sept. 1, across from the resort's sports book.

One of New York's famous Greenwich Village institutions, Il Mulino, will be adding Las Vegas to its list of locales that include Dallas and Tokyo. Look for it to open at the end of the year at Caesars' Forum Shops.

TI's buffet is closed for remodeling and scheduled to reopen in November. This project is being done by designer Jeffrey Beers, who is also redesigning Olives inside Bellagio.

"Wine Spectator" magazine has added Delmonico Steakhouse to its list of Grand Award winners. Delmonico joins Aureole, which has been on the list since 2000; Piero Selvaggio Valentino at The Venetian since 2002; and Picasso at Bellagio since 2003.

Bruce Willis will bring his blues and rock band, the Accelerators, to the Golden Nugget's ballroom over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3 and 4. Tickets are $75. Other future Golden Nugget headliners include Kenny Loggins on Oct. 8, Tony Bennett, Nov. 4-6, and Randy Travis, Dec. 3-5.

After 40 years in the music industry, she has many chart-topping hits such as "Respect Yourself," "I'll Take You There," "Let's Do It Again," and "Gotta Change My Way Of Thinking," the Grammy-nominated collaboration with Bob Dylan. Her new album "Have A Little Faith" will be released in August.

Staples has enjoyed success over the years including being named one of VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll, participating in the historic Salute To The Blues concert at Radio City Music Hall, and being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

More high-rise projects are in the works for Las Vegas. Sky Las Vegas is a 40-story, 350-unit condominium project, planned for three acres between Circus Circus and the Hilton Grand Vacations time share on the Strip. The condos will be priced from $400,000 to more than $3 million.

The Bristol-Myers Squibb "Tour of Hope" for cancer awareness will feature a 20-member team of bike riders including Lance Armstrong riding on the Strip between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1.

The cover story in the July 26 issue of "Time" magazine titled "It's Vegas, Baby!" covered various aspects of the city and got a lot of play.

Have read that author Jack Sheehan, whose current seller is "Skin City," is helping Tom Breitling, the Golden Nugget co-owner, complete his book titled, "The Golden Boys."

NBC is planning a new reality TV show titled "Double or Nothing." The concept is someone sells off everything they own, travel to Las Vegas and put it all on the line for one chance to double their money or leave with nothing. If this sounds familiar, it's because an English gentleman did exactly that several months ago at the Plaza Hotel. While not original, it will probably get publicity once again.

More Las Vegas filming is in the planning stages. The billionaire Maloof family, who own the Sacramento Kings, the Palms and Maloof Television recently signed agreements with MGM Television Entertainment and Interscope Records, a division of Universal Music. The Maloofs as executive producers may have two television shows, "The Whale" and "The Nightclub" on the air by early next year.

One program will take viewers into the Maloofs' entrepreneurial arena. They will be on camera as themselves with a competition leading to a big payoff via the free enterprise spirit. The second series will be billed as the "ultimate party show," looking into exclusive parties, clubs and events.

More coverage will include a reality series about the club opening at Mandalay Palace in the fall and A&E plans a realty show set at Caesars Palace.

The big hit series "Las Vegas" will return for its second season this fall and a new show "Dr. Vegas" starring Rob Lowe will debut and hope for similar success.
