THREE WHITE LION CUBS DEBUT AT SIEGFRIED & ROY'S SECRET GARDEN!

Three new white lion cubs are the latest additions to the Siegfried & Roy animal family at Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage appearing noon to 4 p.m. daily. The cubs - Freedom, Timba-Masai and Madiba - are brothers and were born roughly three months ago in Johannesburg, South Africa. They join more than 30 other endangered and majestic animals at the Secret Garden.

There is significance to their names. Madiba is the tribal name of Nelson Mandela, who encouraged the magicians to keep the great lions and tigers of South Africa alive for future generations. Timba-Masai is for the Timbavati region of South Africa where the lions come from and Masai is the African tribe of the area.

IKEA WILL FINALLY BUILD IN LAS VEGAS VALLEY

Happy news, IKEA will open its first store in the Las Vegas market in the summer of 2016 on 26 acres of land at Sunset Road and Durango Drive near the 215 Beltway. The store will be 351,000 square feet with 1,300 parking spaces. IKEA, founded by Ingvar Kamprad Sweden in 1943, opened its first U.S. store in 1985 in a Philadelphia suburb. It now has 38 stores in the United States and operates 338 stores in 40 countries. The company looks for markets with 2 million people and it already has 101,000 customers in the Las Vegas area, who right now Las Vegans have to travel to California, Arizona or Utah to find and IKEA outlet.

ROUTE 91 HARVEST COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL LAUNCHES OCT. 3-5

Live Nation, creators of premier country music festivals, in collaboration with MGM Resorts International, will start their newest music festival, Route 91 Harvest, in Las Vegas Oct. 3-5. Originally known as Route 91, the three-day country music festival will take its name from the iconic Las Vegas Boulevard. The festival will be held in The Lot, MGM Resorts International's newest venue across the street from the Luxor, and will feature a gathering of true high-roller performers including Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley and Brantley Gilbert.

Additional artists confirmed include: Tyler Farr; Dwight Yoakam; Randy Houser; Dustin Lynch; Neal McCoy; Charles Esten and Clare Bowen from ABC's hit show “Nashville;” Dan + Shay; Josh Thompson; Sam Hunt; Ashley Monroe; Lindsay Ell; and Dee Jay Silver.

HACIENDA IS OPEN WHILE REMODELING TO BECOME HOOVER DAM LODGE

The Hacienda Hotel Casino near Boulder City and Hoover Dam on U.S. Highway 93 is remaining open while it is transformed into the new rustic desert lodge-themed Hoover Dam Lodge. Nevada Restaurant Services, parent company of the highly successful Dotty's tavern chain and an Estey family-owned business, purchased the challenging property last December.

The top four floors of the hotel tower have been remodeled and a tour showed off the new look with heavy earth tones to match the desert sunsets, repainted barn wood furniture from the USA, modernized bathrooms and new in-room amenities. When completed, there will be approximately 280 rooms featuring three levels: Deluxe upper floors 14-17 with down-to-the-studs remodel; Standard tower rooms floors 2-13; and Budget pet-friendly rooms in the East Wing. The pool area and spa area have been refurbished already and have new pool furniture.

When phase one is completed, the Hoover Dam Lodge will have an all-new exterior reminiscent of a northwest lodge with lots of windows, gaming, two restaurants - a steakhouse and 24-hour café, a new sports bar concept that includes non-gambling games and a restaurant menu with a Louisiana theme. The hotel's main entrance lobby area will be transformed last into a lodge theme with use of rock and timber enhancements and a large stone fireplace.

ITALIAN SINGER LAURA PAUSINI WILL PERFORM AT THE PALMS

Internationally recognized Italian artist Laura Pausini will bring “The Greatest Hits World Tour” to the iPearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Oct. 19. Her Las Vegas performance marks just five shows Pausini will perform in the United States this fall. Tickets start at $43.

Pausini with more than 70 million records sold over 20 years is the first Italian artist ever to win an Icon Award for her international career. The multi-Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winner began her career in 1993. She had the honor of singing for Pope John Paul II at a special Vatican Christmas mass and was a special guest performer at Barbara Streisand's birthday in 1998. In 2002, she released her only English-language album, “From the Inside.” In 2012, Pausini appeared on Josh Groban's album “All That Echoes” and in 2013 she was the featured vocalist on “Sonrie,” which was released on Gloria Estefan's album “The Standards.”

THIRD ANNUAL DOWNTOWN BREW FESTIVAL SCHEDULED SEPT. 20

The Third Annual Downtown Brew Festival (DBF) hosted by Motley Brews will return for an evening under the stars at the Clark County Amphitheater on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 6 to 10 p.m. This event will have even more beers from local, regional, and international breweries, a culinary experience provided by celebrity chefs from prominent Las Vegas restaurants, and up-and-coming local bands providing nonstop entertainment.

The festival is presented by Victory Brewing Company, one of Southern Pennsylvania's premiere craft breweries, to celebrate their upcoming Las Vegas debut. DESERT HOPS BEER EXPERIENCE RETURNS TO THE COSMOPOLITAN

Desert Hops: An International Beer Experience will return to Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan with more than 150 beers from more than 25 countries on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. Attendees will also sample multi-cultural food offerings prepared by The Cosmopolitan's renowned restaurant partners.

Early Bird general admission through Aug. 3 starts at $30 and VIP at $50 and will go up to $45 and $65 after that; visit Ticketmaster.

NINTH ROCK ‘N ROLL WINE AMPLIFIED WEEKEND RETURNS OCT. 10-11

For the ninth consecutive year, MGM Resorts International is partnering with Rock ‘n Roll Wine to host the wine and music event “Wine Amplified Festival.” Based on the event's growth and increased popularity, the two-day festival will be held for the first time at The Lot across from the Luxor on Oct. 10 and 11. The Friday-Saturday event will begin at 4 p.m. both days and feature headliners Train and Blink 182 in addition to performances by Violent Femmes, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Magic!, Better than Ezra, The Mowgli's, of Verona and Mystic Roots, among others.

The venue will be transformed into a sublime slice of wine country featuring more than 60 wineries, 150 wines and 20 craft beers. Additional highlights will include a hidden speakeasy, barrel tasting, grape stomping, libation lounge and a wide-variety of food truck options. This year's festival will be a completely cashless event utilizing the latest in radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology. Patrons will be able to load money on their RFID wristbands and use it to purchase wine, beer, food and festival merchandise.

Hosted by 97.1 FM The Point's Steph McKenzie, 98.5 KLUC's Chet Buchanan, KTNV Ch. 13's Shawn Tempesta and Emmy Award-winning journalist Nina Radetich, the 17th Annual A.C.T.S. will feature acts from the Southern Nevada advertising and media community. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and show at 7 p.m. All proceeds raised will benefit Safe Nest, a local charity dedicated to providing temporary assistance for those going through domestic crisis in Southern Nevada.

DOWNTOWN MAIN STREET GETS ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT

Construction has begun on the $13.9 million project Main Street improvement project that will stretch along Main Street between Bonneville Avenue and north of U.S. 95. and improve traffic flow, make the area safer for bicyclists and pedestrians, add new green bike lanes and widen sidewalks. The project will also include roadway improvements such as asphalt paving and street lighting, as well as landscaping including trees and planters. Work on Phase 1 will be completed by the end of 2015.

Phase 2, scheduled to commence in late 2015, will extend these improvements from Bonneville to Las Vegas Boulevard and convert Main and Commerce Streets to complementary one-way thoroughfares.

THE WINDOW OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES IN DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS

The Window, a multi-purpose space located Downtown at The Ogden, 150 N. Las Vegas Boulevard, has opened. The space serves multiple audiences and have a focus on the arts with a live art installation and gallery. Another different aspect is that The Window will serve as a place to create co-learning relationships with local nonprofit organizations as availability allows.

Additionally, Downtown Project tours will meet and start at The Window. Aside from curated evening events, standard hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
