RESORTS WORLD DEBUTS AWANA SPA - A WELLNESS HAVEN
Resorts world recently debuted the property’s newest addition, Awana Spa where guests can select from a variety of treatments inspired by European and Eastern rituals with a creative social approach.
Offering an experience not available anywhere else in the country, the theatrical Art of Aufguss will make its U.S. debut at Awana Spa. Inspired by European saunas that provide rejuvenation and social gathering for the shared goal of greater well-being, the spa showcases a theater-inspired heated room with aromatherapy, choreographed music, lighting and dancing towels. An avant-garde, social experience that will relax, invigorate and inspire playfulness as each Sauna Meister curates a 30-minute themed experience.
Awana’s design pinnacle is showcased through the spectacular Fountain of Youth experience. Inspired by tales of the mythical spring that restores the youth of anyone to bathe in its curative, age-reversing waters, the Fountain of Youth experience houses a network of six vitality pools, heated Crystal laconium room, tepidarium chairs, vapor-filled steam rooms, cool mist showers and the experiential Rain Walk. The expansive co-ed facility features LED screens and immersive experiences that change throughout the day; when the projection transports guests to various picturesque destinations, the room’s temperature as well as other added touches, match the displayed setting. Guests can opt for a Fountain of Youth Passport, which includes a two-hour journey of youthful exploration.
In addition, Awana offers Crystal Healing Therapies, Assorted Massages and Bodywork, Rejuvenating Facials, a Foot Spa Lounge and more.
SPIEGELWORLD REOPENS ‘OPIUM’ AND DEBUTS SUPERFRICO RESTAURANT
With “Absinthe” and “Atomic Saloon Show” up and running, Spiegelworld finally re-opens “Opium,” with its third show on the Strip blasting off once again at The Cosmopolitan on Sept. 24. “Opium” resumes flights 10 times a week with performances Wednesday through Sunday at 8 and 10 p.m. Tickets start at $99.
Spiegelworld’s new restaurant Superfrico also opens on Sept. 24, right next door to the theatre. “Opium” patrons can reserve a table to dine on “Italian American Psychedelic” fare before or after the show or take advantage of the in-seat mobile ordering system to order and pay for boxed pizza and cocktails to be delivered direct from the restaurant to their seat during the show.
The adults-only show with Captain Kunton is a journey to a new dimension aboard the Starship OPM 73 from Las Vegas to Uranus. The spaceship’s twisted crew are at your service with in-flight entertainment provided by the galaxy’s talented variety performers and other space oddities. As some guy on Facebook said, “It’s like ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ met Buck Rogers and exploded in Captain Kirk’s pants!”
The in-flight entertainment will be performed by regular crew favorites including Rob the Robot with his sexy dance moves, Leeloo’s giant balloon contortions, Pendelton the Third’s mesmerizing bubbles and Rear Admiral Todd’s sword-swallowing antics.
New crew will include Pedal & Metal performing a jaw dropping Risley act, flipping each other with their feet at warp speed. Lieutenant Harriet is now assisted by flight attendants Brittany - unrestrained in her search for love - and Chromeo, who spins into orbit each night on his funkadelic cyr wheel.
HART & HUNTINGTON TATTOO COMPANY OPENS AT THE FORUM SHOPS
Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company has opened inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace after their 10-year lease expired at the former Hard Rock Hotel. Inaddition to the new Strip location, the shop boasts a fresh new look and feel. The 1,080-square-foot space offers a consultation bar, four tattoo stations, including one mimicking Carey Hart’s personal workshop, and a retail area near the storefront with the latest Hart & Huntington apparel and accessories along with other select brands.
Hart & Huntington, founded by motocross legend Carey Hart, opened the world’s first casino tattoo parlor in Las Vegas in 2004, which was the site of A&E’s top-rated tattoo reality series “Inked.” With five high profile locations under its belt and Hart’s name on the door, the concept has become a destination attraction in Las Vegas, Orlando, Nashville, Niagara Falls in Canada and Noosa Heads in Queensland Australia.
The Orlando-based company plans to open more corporate locations.
TACOS & TEQUILA WILL OPEN AT PALACE STATION
Tacos & Tequila (T&T) will return to Las Vegas after more than a decade of success on the Strip with a vibrant new restaurant and cantina at Palace Station. Opening later this year, the new T&T will span 4,000 square feet in the space formerly occupied by Little Tony’s. With award-winning margaritas and Mexican food, it will be open daily for lunch and dinner.
Famous for its fun, party atmosphere, T&T celebrates traditional Mexican culture with stylish, modern design and a flavorful menu combining traditional and modern cuisine. HDTVs throughout offer prime sports viewing and proximity to the sports book. T&T is also steps away from the parking garage.
Palace Station after a two-year revamp, renovated its entire casino floor and 575 hotel guest rooms and suites, added a new resort-style pool area, luxury nine-screen movieplex, and new restaurants such as Boathouse Asian Eatery and Tailgate Social.
T&T is the flagship restaurant for Michael Frey and his partner, Craig Gilbert, who founded Drive This! Entertainment in 2006. The company is also behind Mozen Asian Kitchen, located in Southern California.
PEYOTE AT FERGUSONS DOWNTOWN MOTEL CELEBRATES OPENING
Peyote, located downtown Las Vegas at Fergusons Downtown Motel, is celebrating its grand opening this week on Sept. 24 with live music and samplings throughout the day for guests. The new boutique restaurant and bar by Corner Bar Management Company is a 3,400-square-foot, color-soaked oasis enhancing Fergusons, a Fremont East Entertainment District landmark, with distinctive brunch and dinner dishes, creative cocktails and funky, laid-back décor. San Francisco-based artist, Keegan Arthur Olton, installed Peyote’s patio, which is adorned with desert-hues and a custom 3D-mapped LED bistro-light canvas.
Peyote’s hours will be 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and noon to 2 a.m. Fridays through Sundays.
‘KÀ’ BY CIRQUE DU SOLEIL WILL RETURN TO MGM GRAND NOV. 24
Following 20 months away from the stage, “KÀ” by Cirque du Soleil will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 24 in its colossal theater at the MGM Grand. As one of the most epic productions on the Strip, the fearless journey will again enthrall fans with gravity-defying battle scenes and combat acrobatics punctuated by immersive technology. ‘KÀ’ will perform Saturday through Wednesday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets start at $69.
KÀ redefines storytelling with its heroic journey of love and conflict set within a dynamic theater transformed into an entire empire. The biggest theatrical production by the global entertainment juggernaut features invigorating special effects complete with 119 pyrotechnic devices, 13,000 gallons of liquid nitrogen and approximately 120 fireballs discharged in every show. The action-packed experience is the final Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas resident show to reopen.
BARBIE®: A CULTURAL ICON EXHIBITION WILL LAUNCH ON THE STRIP
Illusion Projects and Mattel, Inc. will tour the first Barbie®: A Cultural Icon doll exhibition in the United States and launch it on the Strip inside The Shops at Crystals in October.
The exhibition will honor more than 60 years of fashion and inspiration, showcasing how Barbie is more than just a doll; she is a cultural icon. The exhibition will display the very first Barbie doll produced in 1959 and lead guests through the decades, paying homage to Barbie and the world around her. The exhibition will also highlight 150-plus vintage dolls, artifacts, and life-sized fashion pieces, which will come to life through tastefully custom-themed displays. Video media and interviews with Barbie designers will expand the narrative.
Barbie has always been at the intersection of fashion and pop culture and continues to represent global diversity in the fashion doll aisle by showcasing a multi-dimensional view of beauty and fashion. LVMS LAUNCHES FIRST SERIES OF DIGITAL COLLECTIBLES
As Las Vegas Motor Speedway kicks off its 25th anniversary this week, the speedway is debuting its first-ever digital NFT (non-fungible token) series with a wide array of collectibles. The series is beginning with 10,000 free South Point 400 commemorative ticket NFTs, including 500 rare golden tickets, hitting the blockchain on RaceDayNFT.com, a new fan-focused digital marketplace.
An additional LVMS-themed NFT will be released on Thursday, followed by a Winner’s Edition auction on Monday, Sept. 27. In addition, there will be an At The Track NFT that can only be claimed by attending the South Point 400. This series follows the initial launch of Speedway Motorsports’ digital NFTs by Bristol Motor Speedway last week.
An NFT is a unique digital collectible (such as an image or video) officially licensed and recorded on the blockchain to demonstrate proof of ownership.
JOHN LEGEND PLAYS SOLD-OUT SHOW AT THE CHELSEA
Last weekend, 12-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist and activist John Legend took over the stage at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan with a sold-out show on his “Bigger Love Tour,” in celebration of his GRAMMY Award-winning seventh studio album, “Bigger Love.”
Upcoming shows at The Chelsea include Quinn XCII (Oct. 3), Billy Idol (Oct. 16-17 and 22), Old Dominion (Nov. 5-6), Evanescene + Halestorm (Nov. 12), El Alfa (Nov. 21), Cody Jinks (Dec. 2-3 and 5), Brantley Gilbert (Dec. 4), Cody Johnson (Dec. 8-9), and Dierks Bentley (Dec. 10-11).
MAKERS & FINDERS PARTNERS TO LAUNCH SALSA NIGHT
Makers & Finders, owned by the Molina family, opened in 2014 in the heart of the burgeoning Arts District. The concept was developed to create a vibrant, upbeat environment where craft coffee, Latin comfort food and hospitality are the program pillars. Now they are partnering with the organization Chicanos Por La Causa to launch a bi-weekly salsa night, taking place at the Main Street location starting during First Friday on Oct. 1. To kick off the new activation and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15-Oct. 15, Makers & Finders will donate 20% of all sales to the organization as part of a partnership for the month.
In addition, Makers & Finders is also offering a $20 three-course brunch menu all month long and will donate $5 from every sale.
Salsa night will feature live music from local salsa group Clave & Cache as well as DJ Raul who will be spinning merengue, salsa, bachata, and cumbia. Music starts at 8 p.m. and continues until midnight. Each salsa night will feature various food and beverage specials, with the kickoff event offering $8 Caipirinhas and mimosas as well as $5 draft beer.
Makers & Finders on Main Street is open Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with extended hours for events such as salsa night.
VILLAGE PUB EXPANDS WITH A NEW LOCATION
Village Pub is hiring for its new location opening in October and situated in Mountain’s Edge in the far southwest part of the valley. The Village Pubs with more than 10 locations has been a locals favorite serving breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings. The original Village Pub location opened in 1968 on the corner of Koval and Flamingo, where Ellis Island Casino & Brewery sits today, with only two items on the menu.
Art in the Park, the largest outdoor juried art festival in the Southwest, will take place starting at 9 a.m. in Escalante, Bicentennial and Wilbur Parks in Boulder City Oct. 2 and 3. The event featuring music, art demonstrations, kids’ activities and raffle giveaways is a fundraiser for the Boulder City Hospital Foundation.
Nathan Adelson Hospice, the largest and only nonprofit hospice in Nevada, will once again celebrate more than 40 years of caring for people in the community with its 25th Annual “Serenades of Life - Doctors in Concert” fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 6:45 p.m. at The Smith Center. The evening will feature “America’s Got Talent” finalist, Daniel Emmet, and comedian Brad Garrett as master of ceremonies. Tickets may be purchased from The Smith Center.
OUTER SPACE BET AND COUPLE WINNERS
History was made when Jared Isaacman, the 38-year-old founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments and Inspiration4 Mission Commander, made the first sports bet from outer space to Las Vegas with BetMGM at MGM Grand. As sports betting expands across the U.S., Isaacman teamed up with BetMGM to launch sports betting into a new orbit. The two wagers placed from space via a proxy bettor were: $4,000 on Washington Football Team vs the New York Giants to hit the over of 40.5 and $4,000 on Philadelphia Eagles as 2022 NFL Champions. All winnings from Isaacman’s bets placed from space will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. BetMGM has also donated $25,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
One Las Vegas local, Miguel, won $57,799 on Charlie’s Double Progressive bingo at Arizona Charlie’s on Boulder Highway last weekend.
A Caesars Rewards member capped off last weekend on a high note with a Mega Progressive Jackpot win of $420,409 at the recently enhanced Harrah’s. The guest was playing Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em and flopped a royal flush to secure the nearly half million-dollar jackpot. With the winnings, the elated guest shared plans to pay off his house and buy a new car.
